First Words...

Today is a big day in our house! Dillyn said her first words... she looked at me, open and closed her hand in a wave and said "bye-bye". We were in the middle of the isle in Hobby Lobby and I just had tears welling up and spilling over. I was so excited! She has been jabbering at us for months, but this is the first time she has said something and connected it to a meaning. I will never forget the shock and pride I felt at that moment. After she saw how happy she made me she went through Hobby Lobby waving at everyone saying "bye-bye". I could not ask for more in life!

Oh and here's a picture that CRACKS me up. Today I was eating blackberries and decided to share with Miss D!

Exciting Things...

We put our house on the market today! It's so exciting. We wrote up an offer on another home with a contingency that we sell this one. They accepted today! So... we have until July 27th under the contract. If we sell before then the dream home is ours! I am bouncing off the walls and can't sit still I'm so excited. I am trying to keep it under control though, because I know the market is crazy right now and it's a good possibility that we won't sell before the deadline.

I guess we'll see!

Oh and hilarious 2nd grader moment of the day... I was looking for my driver's license and was talking to myself about it and one of my kids says "Did you put it in your pocket to buy alcohol? That's what my mom always does!"... now I know this kid's mom and she is awesome. She was mortified when I told her the story today. So funny! It's amazing the things that come out of the kids mouths. They crack me up.

As I end this first year of teaching my emotions are so mixed. On one hand I am so sad to see this group of students move on. They are awesome and will always be my 'first class'. I could not have asked for a better group and would loop with them to 3rd grade in a heart beat! On the other hand school cannot end soon enough! I have big plans for me and Miss Dillyn this summer!!!

So it's been a LOOOONG time since I have posted, but I decided to re-vamp this thing so that people can keep up with us... well mainly so I can show off the adorable daughter I have as much as possible! Haha. I know her family in Oklahoma will definitely enjoy seeing pictures and knowing what is going on with us! Maybe I'm just vain and think that everyone wants to know what's going on with us... lol!

In the past 8 months since I have blogged so much has changed. Life is more perfect than I ever imagined possible. Dillyn Reese will be 7 months old on May 16th and I can't believe time has flown by so fast! I look at my old postings and feel like it was yesterday and a lifetime ago.

I guess the biggest news for us at this moment is that we are getting ready to put our house on the market! It is a crazy, scary, and exciting thing. We are looking for something with more acreage and a lot bigger than our little 1100 square foot house we have now. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this house. The memories it holds for us I will cherish forever. We got this house two months after we got married. We have started our life together here. We brought Dillyn home here. This house has been just that... a home... but we need a more permanent place that we can spread out on! The prospect of a new house has me ancy all the time. I can't wait to decorate! Haha and such a shame since we just finished that darn nursery.

All is going well with Erik. He loves every minute of his job. He is an amazing father to Dillyn. Seeing them together is my favorite thing! Oh and probably the biggest news in his life is that he recently purchased a "real" John Deere... her name is Julie... seriously... he named the lawn mower... He is definitely in love with it! I think he mows the lawn every chance he gets!

Teaching is going great. I can't believe my first year is nearly over. I am always amazed at the things that my days bring. Everyday is definitely different. I am so fulfilled at the end of the day! Helping kids achieve their goals is a great feeling. On a funny note... Matthew, this second grader at my school sits really close to me at recess Friday and leans over and sniffs me. Yes... sniffs me.. and dramatically. I think to myself "what a wierd child" and say "Matthew, please scoot away from me a little bit." I think the awkward encounter is over. Then he says, "Mrs. Hammons, are you wearing perfume?" I don't make eye contact and say no. He stares at me and says "Cause you smell like vanilla, good." That is one smooth seven year old! Haha.

Today Maegan came to babysit my Dillyn! Maegan's daughter Sophia is 9 months old and so adorable! I love seeing her and Dillyn play. It seems like not long ago her mom and I were getting into trouble ourselves! Having friends to share this amazing joy with is awesome! The pictures below are some Maegan snapped of Dillyn and Sophia outside my house. They CRACK me up. I can't wait until this summer when the four of us can go to the zoo, swimming and all kinds of fun stuff! Check out Sophia eating my shoe! Isn't she precious?

I hope everyone is doing good! I will be trying to post more frequently and share pictures often. Check in on me and link your blog to mine so I can follow you!

30 Weeks... Yeesh!

I can not believe I'm 30 weeks! 31 in two days! This is just flying by, but at the same time seems to be DRAGGING along... I am definitely ready to get this girl in my arms and out of my stomach! Haha.

Here are some pictures of the nursery's progress... it still needs a lot of work, but it's coming together!
